Does it still exist? What state of upkeep is it in? Who does it belong to?
A Greek told me it was attacked in the 50s and this was the occasion for riots in Istanbul. He said the attack was a set up. Is any of this true?
Greeks and Turks are said to be best friends these days, but, you know …
Hi Jim.
I spent a year as an Au Pair in Salonika (Thessaloniki).
I actually went to see Ataturk’s birthplace as it is listed as a tourist attraction.
Address is17 Apostolou Pavlou, Thessaloniki. The location is 8 short streets east of the church of Ayios Dimitrios. You have to enter through the front gate of the Turkish consulate
Phone 2310/248-452.
Just behind the consulate, this modest wood-framed house was the 1881 birthplace of Mustafa Kemal (Atatürk), the man who created the modern Turkish state and was its first president. Given to Turkey as a present by the Greek government in 1933, the house has been restored and furnished to reflect the way it must have been at Atatürk’s birth. It contains numerous photos of the man, young and old; various letters and papers; and cases containing the clothes and uniforms he wore.
I’m sorry but I have never heard of it being destroyed.
Good luck my friend,
Cathorio.

I’m researching a story of a gang member who was imprisoned without trial under a draconian law. He may have been guilty or maybe not. Either way he reforms in prison and becomes a successful person afterwards. Anything like tihs been done before for ideas?
You will not likely find any cases in the United States. You cannot be imprisoned without being first convicted of a crime. Sometimes people are jailed pending trial and they can be in jail for many months even years before the trial is over, but to put in prison, you have to be convicted. Without a trial, an attorney … family or other people can file a Writ of Habeas Corpus. It is the process by which someone contests their "unlawful detention."
In some other countries you might find this happening, but not in the United States … except with the detention of suspected terrorists at GITMO and the internment of the Japanese during World War II.
You might look into Nelson Mandela. He was imprisoned in South Africa, but he was hardly a "gang member."

I am not talking about the common cold, I mean chronic medical conditions.
I have to teach a unit of work on a health topic and I have chosen a childhood illness.
Thank you
I would say Childhood Leukemia.

What should a mother do if the father of her child is in jail for not paying child support? He says that he rather spend the rest of his live in jail for not paying child support. Because he is well behaved in jail at least according to the jail staff, he gets many privileges like free cable TV and medical insurance. He never wanted to be a father. It cost the state more money to keep him in jail for one weak, than the amount he would have to pay in child support.
he wont pay it any how so let him rot,and dont get enouther one like him

I’ve gotten curious about Queen Elizabeth and want to read a bio but there are hundreds! I’ve enjoyed David McCullough’s bio on John Adams and Blanche Wiesen Cooke’s bio on Eleanor Roosevelt. I started one but it was a naval history, not a biography. (Bummer) Any suggestions?
I second tantiemeg’s suggestion. Alison Weir is a very readable historian who includes a lot of personal information. I suggest that you start with her "Children of England", which gives details on Elizabeth’s early life. There is also some fascinating reading there on Henry VIII’s other children, and Lady Jane Grey.

For a more political history, try David Starkey. Christopher Hibbert is one of my favourite historians; I think Antonia Fraser must have written something on Elizabeth, too!
There are a lot of books mentioned here:

New Jersey is the second-largest producer of blueberries in the country, after Michigan, but it holds a much more notable title as the birthplace of the cultivated highbush blueberry. The commercial blueberry was first cultivated in the New Jersey Pinelands by Elizabeth Coleman White, the daughter of a local cranberry farmer, and agricultural scientist Frederick Coville. Whites farm, known as Whitesbog Village, in Pemberton Township, is still farmed by the same family as J.J. White, Inc. This year, owner Joe Darlington has revived the farms blueberry business under Elizabeth Whites original Tru-Blu label. Like the Pinelands cranberry industry, blueberry farming goes back generations. One of the largest blueberry farms in state, Atlantic Blueberry Company, in Hammonton, is run by the sons of the five Galletta brothers who founded it in 1935. (Video by Nyier Abdou/The Star-Ledger)
